Sentar edge modem works fine in linux. try ubuntu 8.10. after plugin the modem in linux, a autorun wizard will come, click cancel. then eject the new usb media (that u will see in nautilus) by pressing the eject button. then run "sudo wvdialconf" you will see the modem is detected as /dev/acmUSB0 (you can check it by running "sudo dmesg" ) the above command will create /etc/wvdial.conf file. now edit this file "sudo nano /etc/wvdial.conf" and edit as your need. here is some portation of my wvdial.conf file : [Dialer Defaults] Init1 = ATZ Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”gpinternet” Modem Type = Analog Modem ISDN = 0 Phone = *99***1# Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0 Username = xyz Password = xyz for more details please visit http://www.lavluda.com/2006/03/26/edgegprs-in-linux/ @mirza: thanks for your comments.
