What is PHP Hosting

PHP Hosting is basically website hosting that uses and fully supports the PHP programming language. Most PHP Hosts offer inexpensive plans using the LAMP (Linux, operating system, Apache, server software, MySQL, database, and PHP and/or Perl, programming language) structure.

PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page but after several changes on the Internet it now stands for Hypertext Preprocessor. PHP is an open source Web development language and with open source we mean that it's completely free. Commands are written in HTML and are executed on the server side. PHP is a powerful language and has a wide variety of applications. It is commonly used in building dynamic websites. PHP is also extremely popular programming language with a number of strengths.

PHP was adapted from Perl and C. If you have any experience with these programming languages then picking up PHP should be fairly easy. However, if you have no experience in programming, PHP is a great way to start. A lot of components for PHP are available for free. PHP is a very popular language so finding answers to your programming questions or finding tutorials on building various types of Web pages are also available free on the Net.

Some of the problems faced by PHP are that it does not allow you to detect and clean harmful and bogus data put in by a hacker. The PHP language carries more than 3,000 commands which can prove to be complicated. Some PHP extensions are not compatible with some Web Server software which may lead to crashes.
